The Dhaka Fresh Markets app offers a platform containing detailed information on fresh market in four cities of the Dhaka Division (Dhaka South, Dhaka North, Gazipur and Narayanganj).
The Local Government Division (LGD), in collaboration with the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Bangladesh, initiated the mobile application Dhaka Fresh Market.The application has six themes1.
General information: provides the names, location, ownership, layout, age numbers and types of stalls, and percentage of women customers.2.
Opening hours: all the markets’ opening hours are available in the app.3.
Food safety: shows if the market is food safe or not by showing the availability of separation of food categories and slaughterhouse facilities inside the markets.
4.
Basic services: provides information on availability of basic services like parking availability, water supply, alternative source of electricity and waste management facilities.
5.
Hygiene: shows the hygiene condition of the markets including, gender segregated toilet facilities.
6.
Risk factors: highlights the risk factors like waterlogging and fire safety issues in the markets.The content is available in Bengali and English, presented in written texts and original photos.
